Building a standard app can take months of gut-wrenching work, and when you are done with your app, you place it on the market, unsure of how well it would perform. This doesn’t have to be the case. There are various ways to keep track of your app’s progress on whatever platform you place it on.

Why should you track your app download?
This should be a no-brainer. Tracking your app downloads helps you monitor your app’s success on the market and can guide you in making timely and accurate marketing decisions to keep your app downloads up consistently.

      How to track apps downloads
There are various ways by which you can track your app downloads. To give you a holistic view of this, I will be breaking it down into two headings.
      The basic tools.

      1. Google Play Console
This is a registration fee tool from Google. It is restricted to the android market, and it is a very handy tool offering analytics to help you get to know the users of your app and how they relate to it. For every user who publishes their app via the Google play store, the Google console allows you full control of the publishing process and offers you the opportunity of monitoring its progress. It is easy to sign up and use.

      2. App Store Connect
Available for IOS developers is the App store connects. It offers a variety of analytics, allowing developers to monitor the progress of their app on IOS. For full usage of the app store connect tools, a yearly subscription of $99 is needed; this fee can be waived for specific organizations.

      Third-Party or external tools.
Aside from the major tools that publish the apps on the different platforms, you can use several third-party tools quite effectively to monitor your app’s downloads and progress. Some of these tools are free, and others come with free and paid versions.

      1. App Annie
App Annie is a free tool that can be used to monitor app downloads and other relevant data. With access to 8 million apps and thousands of websites, App Annie’s vast reach allows you access to accurate and well-gathered data. It has an easy to use interface, which helps you analyze charts and other metrics with ease. It is widely used and very reliable.

      2. Mobile Action
Mobile Action offers you a wide range of possibilities, not minding if you are a one-man army or a team of techies. Mobile Action gives you full access to analysis reports on your app and on competitors too. Its free version has a lot of useful features that can be very worthwhile. You can link any of your basic tools to Mobile action for more efficient data analysis.

      3. APPFIGURES
Appfigures comes with a free and a paid version. The free version has some useful tools but limits the number of apps to be analyzed to 5. It offers a single dashboard that gives you access to a range of features such as your app downloads, in-app purchases, ads, and even app rankings.

Many of the options above offer far more than just basic app download metrics. These options come with a general overview of your app’s marketplace status, coming with graphs and tables to help you understand your app’s position. They also cover a lot of useful data, including competitor analysis, the usage of the apps, clicks on ads, and other information that you could properly use for the overall improvement of your app.
